Google releases Chrome for Android beta channel with all the new features and bugs

Google today has released a new version of its Chrome for Android app. Yes it’s Google’s mobile web browser which is currently available as a full-featured app on Google Play. However, this new version is a separate app and is labeled as Chrome Beta Android app. That’s right, this is similar to Chrome for desktop beta channel.

With that, Chrome for Android app in beta channel gives you advanced access to upcoming features of Chrome for Android which are currently being tested by Google prior to official release. The app, which is currently in version 25.0.1364 also lets you benefits from speed, security and other improvements that Google has done to the app and which have now passed the development stage.

Of course, you’ll also get to experience all the bugs of the Android app since it is still in beta state. And if you’re at it, you can send feedback to Google about bugs and fixes that they need to work on.

Speaking of bugs, expect to encounter the following known bugs should you give the app a try now:

  • Performance is sluggish, noticeably on Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S
  • Frequent freeze on devices with specific versions of Qualcomm GPU driver
  • Text autosizing may break formatting on some sites
  • 164632 â€" Editing bookmark feature is broken
  • 165244 â€" Text position handler jumps or disappears when moving
  • 163439 â€" Clicking on links in yahoo.com not navigating on Nexus 7
  • 166233 â€" Unable to submit comments on Facebook posts in desktop version of Facebook
  • 165244 â€" Text handler jumps or disappears when moving
  • 167351 â€" Youtube video controls are lost after returning from fullscreen video mode
  • 162486 â€" iframe scrolling broken
