When it comes to alternative software for your Android device, CyanogenMod is still the cream of the crop. Over the weekend, the first semi-stable builds of CyanogenMod 10.1 were made available for select devices, giving us an idea of just how far CyanogenMod 10.1 is into development.
With the release of CyanogenMod 10.1 Milestone 1, we can see that development on CM 10.1 is progressing nicely. Depending on how well the initial batch of “M-Series†releases go, a stable build could be right around the corner. CyanogenMod is generally released in four stages, with Milestones intended to be mid-development stable builds. The first M-Series release of CM 10.1 is available for the Nexus 4, 7, 10 and S, as well as the Galaxy Nexus and a handful of other Samsung devices.
If you’re not familiar with CyanogenMod, CyanogenMod 10.1 is based on the latest version of Jelly Bean, Android 4.2.1. It’s built using only the source code for Android, and features a handful of nonintrusive customization and optimization options giving users full control over their device.
