This weekâs picks for our list of the Top New Android Apps of the Week include apps that let you change your appearance, build crazy projects, and keep you safe while your texting. Â Thereâs a little something for everyone so sit back, relax, and enjoy our list of the Top New Android Apps of the Week.
1. Instructables
Autodesk has put out some killer apps, and you can now add one more to that list with Instructables for Android. The app gives you access to all the goodies from the website where you can discuss projects, share and favorite things, and discover cool new projects to tinker with. Itâs a great looking app and itâs free to download.
2. Walking Dead Dead Yourself
The Walking Dead Dead Yourself app is a âmust haveâ app for any Walking Dead fan and a no-brainer for our list of the Top New Android Apps of the Week. Â As the name implies you can zombify a photo of yourself or a friend, and share it for all the world to see. New props are added every Sunday during the season, and the app is free to download if you want to zombify yourself before tonightâs new Walking Dead.
3. Vybe
Vybe is a handy little Android app that lets you create custom vibration patterns for your contacts. Itâs very useful in situations where you need to have your phone on silent, but want to know whoâs trying to get ahold of you. Itâs simple to use, works like a charm, and best of all itâs free! You can pick up Itchy Fingerz Digital Studios Vybe on Google Play.
4. Sidewalk Buddy
Tired of running into things while you text or browse on your phone? If so Sidewalk Buddy can help you out as it gives you a pop-up live feed from your rear facing camera as you walk. Weâve seen apps like this before, but none have pulled it off as well as Sidewalk Buddy. You can pick up theSOULwithin apps Sidewalk Buddy for free on Google Play.
5. Draft
Our smartphones come with a lot of cool features, but text editing isnât necessarily one that stands out. Draft looks to change that by giving you an easy to use text editor for your phone or tablet. You can create and edit text, search documents, organize notes, and Markdown files. Itâs not going to replace an office suite on your tab, but it will do the job (and do it well) if youâre looking for something a bit more compact. You can check out Flyableâs Draft for $ 1.49 on Google Play.
6. DIRECTV for Tablets
The official DIRECTV for Tablets app hit Android last week and you can now watch select television from anywhere in your home. In addition to some TV time youâll also be able to setup lists of your favorite channels, browse for shows, and set DVR recordings. I havenât tried this one out (Comcast), but it looks to be a great app to have if youâve got DirectTV.
7. Superuser (Root)
This oneâs not for everyone, but if youâre Rooted you know exactly what it does and who Clockworkmod is. If you know who Clockworkmod is, then you know why youâll want to try out their new Superuser app. Itâs Open Source, has pin protection, and even gives you multiuser support. Did we mention itâs free? If youâre looking to change your Superuser app, youâll definitely want to check this one out.
8. The Croods â" Croodify Yourself
Croodify Yourself is a new Android app that lets you see what itâs like to be a member of the Crood clan. You can see what youâll look like as any member of the prehistoric family and there are several different backgrounds to choose from. Itâs a fun app for the kids and itâs free to download on Google Play.
9. Chameleon 2 Calendar Add-In
Not much to say about this one. If you use Chameleon Launcher you know itâs a slick looking app, and the Calendar Add-In lets you add your local calendars to the Chameleon Calendar widget. The Calendar Add-In is free to download, but youâll have to have v2 of the launcher installed to use it.
10. Shady Contacts
Most of us have been paranoid at one time or another about messages or calls on our phones. Thatâs where Shady Contacts can help you out as it allows you to lock down messages and call logs you want to keep away from prying eyes. The best defense is to just delete the logs and texts, but Shady Contacts can also do the job.
