Being a pirate isn’t as glamorous as the movies make it out to be, but it sure can be a lot of fun. Raft Pirates from 6waves takes an interesting approach to the whole pirate shtick as you command a raft full of wacky weapons and battle it out on the high seas.
Raft Pirates is a pirate themed MMO that puts you in command of a raft with the goal of being the best pirate you can be. Pirates are all about plundering, and there’s plenty of that in Raft Pirates as you’ll fight against other players and you get to salvage material from their wreckage. The setup is pretty interesting as well; if you’re in a “safe zone†you can’t be attacked, but it’s hard to get salvage and you won’t level up. If you’re brave and setup shop in the pirate infested waters, you have a chance to get great salvage, raft blueprints, and you’ll level up when the level timer hits zero. There’s a mini-game you can play during salvaging to earn extra booty and there are even boss battles set in several different areas. Needless to say, it’s unlike any “MMO†I’ve ever played, and it’s quite a bit of fun to boot.
The Play Store reviews are pretty harsh on Raft Pirates due to some bugs, but the game has only been out a few days and 6waves is solid so it won’t stay buggy long. That being said, I had no issue running the game on my Galaxy S3, Asus Tab or Galaxy Nexus.
