Ready for some new Android apps? This week’s list of the Top New Android Apps of the Week has a little something for everyone from swipe based multi-tasking to virtual pets and Pokemon episodes. Without further ado, we proudly present our picks for the Top New Android Apps of the Week…
1. Archos Video Player Free
There are a lot of video players on Google Play, but the Archos Video Player that was just released is putting the others to shame. The player will play almost anything you can throw at it and it’s full of cool features like network indexing, multi-device network video resume, and accelerated video decoding. There’s an ad supported version you can check out for free wihle the full version can be yours for only $ 4.99.
2. Pokemon TV
Pokemon fans got a nice surprise this week when the official Pokemon TV app went live. Its pretty bare bones as far as features are concerned, but you will get a whopping 50 free Pokemon episodes to watch in their entirety. The video quality is good and the episodes are in sequence although the seasons are randomly selected. It’s a must have app for any Pokemon fan and you can pick it up for free on Google Play.
3. Glovebox
Swipe based multi-tasking apps are all the rage right now, and we got a cool new one last week with Glovebox from Fbarroso apps. Glovebox lets you personalize a sidebar with the apps, shortcuts, and widgets you use the most and you can swipe without lifting your finger to select the application you’re looking to use. It’s simple, effective, and free to download on Google Play.
4. iCookbook
Looking to do some cooking? If so the iCookbook has you covered with over 2,000 delicious recipes and photographs. If you’re feeling adventurous you can use “Stir Mode’ which randomly selects a recipe based on your search criteria or you can personalize recipes already in the iCookbook catalog. Additional recipes will also be added monthly free of charge so you’ll always have something new to look forward to. You can pick up Publications Internationals iCookbook for $ 4.99 on Google Play.
5. Material (Beta)
Material is a new Android app that’s set to change the way you discover new media. It gives you new material based on what you like and who you follow and evolves to show you different things as your interests change. It’s in Beta right now and it’s only optimized for phones at the moment, but it looks great and is well worth checking out if you’re looking for something different. If you’re ready to take it for a spin you can pick up Material for free.
6. Tamagotchi L.i.f.e.
The Tamagotchi is celebrating its 16th birthday this year and Namco Bandai gave us all a present with the release of Tamagotch L.i.f.e. for Android. We covered this one earlier in the week; you can read more about the app here or pick it up on Google Play for free.
7. Cyber IQ
Cyber IQ is a new brain training app that tests your wits by having you solve problems against robots. There are 8 different games, 3 different modes and the game has a cool retro vibe that reminds of the old math/brain games of the 80s. If you’re ready to do some brain training you can check out Shoaib Dar’s Cyber IQ for free.
8. Pixel Artist
Pixel Artist is a new Camera app that lets you use funky filters in real-time and after you snapped a pic. There are many cool filters, overlays, and effects to choose from and the app is simple to use. Pixel Artist is free to download and use, but if you want to use pictures you’ve taken previously with the filters you’ll have to unlock the feature via an IAP.
