The virtual pet known as Tamagotchi turns 16 this year and Namco Bandai has released Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. to celebrate the occasion. While the news makes some of us feel ancient, it’s good to see Namco still remembers the little guys and they’ve put an awesome app to show the digital pets a little love.
Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. is a virtual pet app that lets you raise and care for a little digital creature on your phone. Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. has all the things you know and love about the original Tamagotchi and there’s an additional “App mode†that puts a bit of a modern twist on things with color graphics and a RPS mini-game. There’s also a Tamagotchi gallery that shows things you’ve collected throughout the game like wallpapers, shells, and different Tamagotchis of course. Worried you’ll forget about him and he’ll die? Optional Push Notifications can take care of that… they are occasionally good for something.
I just stumbled across Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. this morning and it’s great to see Namco do something with the little digital pets again. I actually stood to pick some of these up when they were released in the late 90s, so there will definitely be a full review once I get to spend some time with my new little pet. The Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. app is free to download on Google Play.
