We’ve seen some great Sci-Fi Android games over the past few months, and you can now add one more to that list with Spaceward Ho! from Ariton Games. If the name sounds familiar it should, as the original Computer game was quite popular and still has a rabid fan base today.
Spaceward Ho! is a turn-based strategy game that puts you in control of your very own race of spacefaring folk. Your goal is to explore the galaxy, expand your empire, and exterminate your enemies. You’ll also be able to exploit planets for their resources so the game definitely falls into the 4X genre. As you build your empire you’ll have to develop new tech to stay ahead of your enemies, and you’ll be able to attack hostiles with your fleet or take up a defensive position to defend your race from incoming threats. Strategy is the name of the game in Spaceward Ho! and from what I’ve seen it’s a pretty faithful port of the original game.
Spaceward Ho! might not be a game for everyone, but if you have a love of exploration/conquering games like Alpha Centauri, Imperium Galactica or Space Empires you’ll be right at home with it. With no demo currently available it’s a little pricy at $ 4.99, but you are getting a lot of bang for your buck.
