The WorldPenScan BT is a mobile translator thatâs small enough to fit in your pocket (around 5â in length) so you can always keep it on hand when youâre on the go. The pen will work with PC, Macs, and Android devices, but it is not compatible with iOS as of yet. The pen uses Bluetooth to sync with your Android Device and works in conjunction with the WorldPenScan BT app to translate 20 languages including English, Chinese (simplified & traditional), Spanish, German, French, and Italian. If youâre going to a region that the app doesnât support no worries as the PC/Mac software has around 200 different languages in its catalog.
So what all exactly can the WorldPenScan BT scan? Well, it can scan any printed text which means youâll be able to scan research documents, newspapers or even comic books. Want to read the latest issue of the Walking Dead while youâre stuck in Spain? Not a problem. I seriously doubt most people would buy the pen for that, but it looks to be extremely handy if you have a short amount of text you need translated in a hurry. If itâs a lot of text I could see it becoming an issue as you have to move the pen across each line of text to scan it in, but for shorter items like restaurant menus or documents the WorldPenScan BT definitely seems like a good way to go. The WorldPenScan BT doesnât require hardcore system specs either; as long as youâre running Android 2.3 or later and have 100MB of internal storage youâll be able to use the Pen with your Android device.
How much use you can get out of a device like the WorldPenScan BT depends on how you use it. While you wouldnât want to translate a book with the pen, it will no doubt come in handy if you travel a lot or need to translate short amounts of text while youâre out and about. You also have to like the fact that itâs small, portable, and uses Bluetooth so thereâs no need for wires once you get it charged up and setup with your phone.
